시골 초등학교 시절엔 꼬물거리는 손가락으로 종이에 글씨를 ‘바르기’에만 바빴고, 대학생이 되어선 먹물이 종이에 퍼지지 않기만을 바랐다. 일터의 고단함과 삶의 신산함 속에서 힘들게 찾은 즐거움이란 음악을 부여잡고 사는 것이었다. 그러나, 완전히 잊을 법도 했건만, 아련한 옛 시절 붓과 종이가 손끝으로 전했던 질감이 손도 머리도 가슴도 아닌 내 유전자에까지 배어들었나보다. 아무리 모른 척 해도 결국엔 날 불러내는 본능에 이끌리듯 또 붓을 잡게 되었다. 도정 선생님과의 만남과 배움 속에서 다시 글씨를 쓴다는 것에, 그리고 그 행위의 아름다움을 즐기고 있다는 것에 감사한다.
