Reason: David Kilburn has tirelessly fought to prevent the eradication of traditional Korean houses (hanok) against developers, Seoul City Hall and other property owners who were looking to make a quid. He has helped to organize awareness of Korean traditional hanok and their cultural value and uniqueness to South Koreans. Thanks to Mr. Kilburn, more hanok have been saved and hopefully more Koreans will invest the time and appreciation in this part of their heritage.
