"제 취미가 무엇인고 하면 전국 곳곳을 다니면서 이 바랑에 모든 사람들의 근심·걱정·슬픔·번뇌를 모으는 것입니다. 그러니 여러분들이 가지고 있는 고통을 모두 지금 제 바랑에 집어넣어 주십시오. 제가 갈 때 몽땅 지고 가겠습니다."
그러면서 시(詩) 한 수를 읊었다.
我有一鉢囊
無口亦無底
受受而不濫
出出而不空
나에게 바랑이 하나 있는데
입도 없고 밑도 없다.
담아도 담아도 넘치지 않고
주어도 주어도 비지 않는다
스스로를 '고통을 모으러 다니는 나그네'라고 부르는 법장스님... 이제 偈(게)만 남아 있고 그 분은 원래 없던 자리로 가 계신다.
